I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
I'm not familiar with gridbox on how it compiles static files and what it's doing when its optimization option turned on. The only static js file the whatsapp module have is just js-cookie, a popular jquery plugin for for handling browser cookies (github.com/js-cookie/js-cookie) I don't know whether gridbox compiles online js too or not so I'm not sure which part caused the issue.
I don't have gridbox in hand too so I can't test it, but when I try jch optimize plugin, that I believe doing the same thing (compiling js/css/static files) the module is working properly. Please have a look on the attached screencast below
