Advice on best layout - with background image

Hi - I've been playing around with the various layouts and having trouble getting exactly what I'm after.
What I'm trying to get is 1 or 2 rows of articles, all equal height, full image thumbnail in background.
I.e. kind of like the first row in the masonry xt demo page, but a little shorter (and all the same height, which masonry doesn't do).
Another way of looking at it would be the "Carousel XT 2" display - but stacking instead of as a carousel. Is this possible?

Hi, We'll make this possible with default layout in the upcoming version. We also have a new theme in the upcoming version (we're still working on it) that's also capable of doing this layout.
