I tried installing the quickstart template Ripple and it doesn't work

I went thru the installation and right away there's a PHP error showing at the top of the screen.
I got thru the installation and there are 2 errors displaying at the top of the screen.

Deprecated: Function get_magic_quotes_gpc() is deprecated in /home/customer/www/yumas4.sg-host.com/public_html/libraries/src/Application/AdministratorApplication.php on line 126

After logging into administrator, the same error appears and there are no menus except for j2store.
The front end actually comes up. Any advice?

I lowered the php version to the latest 7 and it started the installation
