default thumbnail & quality

Good evening
I read some topic about the image quality.
At the moment I use the MiniFrontpage (free) latest update (v4.0) on a J!4.2.8

First of all, the default thumbnail stays the grey triangle and circle.
I tried to upload a new default image, or select it after uploading with FTP.
I also deleted the thumbnails folder.  If I let it generate new thumbails, it always stays default like the module was installed.
The image I use is 800x800px. so that should me more than large enough.

Second the quality.
by default the settings are 64x64. so I changed it to 192x192.
If I reload the page, after deleting all the thumbnails, there is no difference in quality.

What is the best size of images to use in an article, to have the best thumbnail quality?
If I look at the filenames of the thumbnails, they always end on _128.
Does the "_128" has something to do with the dimensions of the thumbnails?

I attached the default thumbnail that I always get.
It also has the "_128" in the filename. and it is NOT the image that I selected or uploaded to be the default image.

Hi,

the default thumbnail stays the grey triangle and circle.

It's working properly at my end. Please check this video : www.dropbox.com/s%2Fy0py8kerne0u5y5%2Fsc...2010-57-01.mp4?raw=1 It's probably your browser cache

by default the settings are 64x64. so I changed it to 192x192.
If I reload the page, after deleting all the thumbnails, there is no difference in quality.

Please make sure you have cleared your browser caches

What is the best size of images to use in an article, to have the best thumbnail quality?

The bigger size you have will generate better quality thumbnail. But if your thumbnail size is bigger then the original image size, it will generate a blurry thumbnail. Also, a too big thumbnail size probably will take more server resources when generating thumbnails. If your server has enough resource then it shouldn't be a problem, but if your server has limited resources you have to  define the right size for the thumbnails.

Does the "_128" has something to do with the dimensions of the thumbnails?

No "_128" is the article id

Default image:
Even on another machine and/or another browser, and more than a week later after clearing cache... I still have the default image. NOT the image I choose in the settings.

_128
If this is the articleID, then why have I 15 files, all with _128 in the filename?

I deleted now all the thumbnails, through FTP.
I changed the settings from 3 columns to 6.
and reloaded the page.

The system is still not acccepting my image that should be used by default when there is no image present in the article.

_128

You probably have about different 15 minifrontpage modules that is displaying the same articles so the module generates 15 different thumbnails that have different thumbnail settings.

The system is still not acccepting my image that should be used by default when there is no image present in the article.

Can you please tell us your website url so we can see it directly?
