Related Items Extended - A way to exclude specific categories please
- Posted by BubbaSmith (4) Offline
Hello,
I really like Related Items Extended.
However I would like a way to exclude specific categories.
I do not want every article to appear in Related Items Extended. But I do want them to have meta-keywords.
Can someone please help?

Hello Bubba
We'll look into the possibility to exclude a specific category from the query.
But indeed this Related Items already based on their meta keywords, not every articles appear. If articles has different metakeyword(s) with the current one then it won't be displayed.

That would be great if you could exclude a specific category from the query.
In a news website, with articles being posted daily by many authors, it's too hard to go back and modify the meta-keywords for old articles. Much easier to move them into an excluded category!
Any chance I could receive a modified file? I purchased recently.

Hi
Can you try to update the relateditems_xtd module using this attached file by uploading it through Extension Manager?
There's a new field in Module Parameters where you can specify Category IDs to be excluded from being queried. Fill in with comma separated values if there's more than one category id.
Let us know if this updated version works or not.

Thanks so much for trying. Unfortunately it causes the site to give an error.
I attempted a variety of categories (single parent; single child; parent, child, child) but they all gave an error.
If I re-set the new field "Exclude Category ID" to blank, the site and Related Items Extended function as normal.
On the error page, the title says "0 - Error:0" and the page returns:
